含油废水是石油开发利用活动中产生的一种面广量大的污染源，含油废水是指：含有脂（脂肪酸、皂类、脂肪、蜡等）及各种油类（矿物油、动植物油）的废水。含油废水的特点是COD、BOD高，有一定的气味和色度、易燃、易氧化分解，一般比水轻、难溶于水，其污染主要表现在以下几个方面：恶化水质、危害水产资源；危害人体健康；污染大气；影响农作物生产；影响自然景观；影响洁净的自然水源。鉴于含油废水的污染性，我国规定含油废水最高允许排放浓度为10mg/L。
油分主要以悬浮油、分散油、乳化油、溶解油和油一固体物等形式赋存在水体中。含油废水中的浮油一般可采用重力场分离技术予以去除，溶解油可通过水体中生物进行分解净化。而以胶体状态存在的微细分散油及乳化油，粒径较小，状态稳定而较难去除。
（1）悬浮油：粒度≥100um，静置后能较快上浮，以连续相的油膜漂浮在水面上。
（2）分散油：粒度为10～100um，悬浮、弥散在水相中，在足够时间静置或外力的作用，可凝聚成教大的油滴上浮到水面，也可能进一步变小，转化成乳化油。
（3）乳化油：粒度为0.1～10um（极微细的油滴），由于油——水界面有表面活性剂的影响，以水包油的形式稳定地分散在水中，单纯用静置的方法很难实现油水分离。
2、含油废水的危害
含油废水的危害主要表现在以下几个方面：
（1）含油废水被排入江河湖海等水体后，油层覆盖水面，阻止空气中的氧向水中的扩散；水体中由于溶解氧减少，藻类进行的光合作用受到限制；影响水生生物的正常生长，使水生动植物有油味或毒性，危害水产资源；影响水体的自净作用，甚至使水体变臭，破坏水资源的利用价值。
（2）影响水域附近动物的健康及生存环境，鸟类体表粘上溢油，会丧失飞行能力，甚至死亡；牲畜饮用了含油废水，通常会感染致命的食道病。
（3）废油中含有致癌烃，被鱼、贝等富集并通过食物链危害人体健康。
（4）间接污染大气和土壤。如果用含油废水灌溉农田，油分及其衍生物将覆盖土壤和植物的表面，堵塞土壤的孔隙，阻止空气透入，使果实有油味，或使土壤不能正常进行新陈代谢和微生物新陈代谢，严重时会造成农作物减产或死亡。
（5）溢油的漂移和扩散，会荒废海滩和海滨旅游区，造成极大的环境危害和社会危害。

1. Overview of oily wastewater
Oil-containing wastewater is a large source of pollution produced in oil development and utilization activities. Oil-containing wastewater refers to the wastewater containing lipids (fatty acid, soap, fat, wax, etc.) and various oils (mineral oil, animal and plant oil). Oily wastewater is characterized by high COD and BOD, certain smell and color, flammable and easy oxidation decomposition, generally lighter than water and difficult to dissolve in water. Its pollution is mainly manifested in the following aspects: deteriorating water quality and endangering aquatic resources; endangering human health; air pollution; affecting crop production; affecting natural landscape; and affecting clean natural water source. In view of the pollution of oily wastewater, the maximum allowable discharge concentration of oily wastewater is 10 mg/L.
The oil content mainly exists in the water body in the form of suspended oil, dispersed oil, emulsified oil, dissolved oil and oil as a solid substance. The floating oil in oily wastewater can be removed by gravity field separation technology, and the dissolved oil can be decomposed and purified by organisms in water. However, the fine dispersed oil and emulsified oil existing in the colloidal state have a small particle size, have a stable state and are difficult to remove.
(1) Suspended oil: particle size of 100um, which can float quickly after standing, and float on the water surface with continuous phase oil film.
(2) Dispersion oil: the particle size is 10~100um, suspended and dispersed in the water phase, in enough time or external force, can condense large oil droplets and float to the water surface, or may be further smaller and converted into emulsified oil.
(3) Emulsified oil: the particle size is 0.1~10um (very fine oil droplets). Due to the influence of surfactant at the water interface of oil ——, it is stably dispersed in water in the form of water-coated oil, and it is difficult to achieve oil and water simply by standing method.
2, the harm of oily wastewater
The harm of oily wastewater is mainly manifested in the following aspects:
(1) After the oil-containing wastewater is discharged into rivers, lakes, seas and other waters, the oil layer covers the water surface to prevent the diffusion of oxygen to the water; the photosynthesis in the water affects the normal growth of aquatic organisms, making the aquatic animals and plants oil or toxic, and harms the aquatic resources; affects the self-purification of the water, and even makes the water smelly and damages the utilization value of water resources.
(2) Affect the health and living environment of animals near the water, the bird surface oil spill, will lose flight, and even death; livestock drinking oil wastewater, usually infected with deadly esophageal disease.
(3) Waste oil contains carcinogenic hydrocarbons, which are enriched by fish and shellfish and harm human health through the food chain.
(4) Indirect pollution of the air and soil. If oil is used wastewater to irrigate the farmland, the oil and its derivatives will cover the surface of the soil and plants, block the pores of the soil, prevent air penetration, make the fruit have oil flavor, or make the soil can not normal metabolism and microbial metabolism, seriously cause crop production or death.
(5) The drift and diffusion of oil spill will waste beaches and coastal tourist areas, causing great environmental and social harm.
